Festive Mocktails

Cranberry Apple Spritz

Ingredients

1 part cranberry juice
1 part apple juice or apple cider
1 part soda water, club soda, or sprite
optional: cranberries (or sugared cranberries), apple slices (I recommend brushing with lemon juice or using the method here to prevent browning)

Method

  1. Add all ingredients into a glass, or multiply by number of guests and add into a punch bowl, and serve!

Kombucha Mocktail

*If you are pregnant, kombucha may not be for you as it is a fermented product. Please talk to your doctor to discuss whether kombucha is safe for you to consume during your pregnancy.*

Ingredients

1 grape fruit, take a slice for decorating, then juice (or use 1/2 cup grapefruit juice)
1 cup ginger kombucha (or preferred flavour)
fresh sprig of thyme or rosemary

Method

  1. Rub the sprig of fresh herb around the edge of your glass, then set aside.
  2. Add grapefruit juice, then top up your glass with kombucha.
  3. Garnish with your grapefruit slice and sprig of fresh rosemary or thyme and serve!

Mulled Grape Juice

Ingredients

2 cups red grape juice
1/2 orange, sliced into circles, half circles, or triangles
1 tsp pure maple syrup
1 cinnamon stick
optional: 2 star anise, 2 whole all-spice, small handful cranberries, 4 whole cloves, 4 black peppercorns

Method

  1. Add all ingredients into a slow cooker or pot. Bring almost to a boil, and then turn to low to simmer for 10 minutes to infuse (you do not need to worry if it comes to a boil like traditional mulled wine, as there is no alcohol to potentially burn off).
  2. Use a ladle to serve into mugs, being sure to get a slice of orange!

Nojito

Ingredients

5-8 fresh mint leaves (depending on size)
1 tsp raw cane sugar or agave nectar
1/2 lime, juiced (optional: slice for garnishing the rim)
ice
soda water (you can use plain or flavoured!)

Method

  1. Add mint, sugar and lime juice into a tall glass. Muddle lightly, ensuring to release the mint flavour without breaking it up into pieces (that would not make for a great drinking experience).
  2. Add ice to fill the glass, then top up with soda water. Stir/swizzle to combine.
  3. Option to add a slice of lime to the rim, and serve!
