Maple Pecan Butter

Ingredients

1 cup pecans
3 tsp pure maple syrup
1/4 tsp cinnamon
pinch of salt

Method

  1. Toast pecans in a pan over medium heat until fragrant (~4-6 minutes), stirring occasionally so the pecans do not burn. Allow pecans to cool completely before moving on.
  2. Add toasted pecans, maple syrup, cinnamon, and salt to a food processor or high-powered blender (ex. Vitamix).
  3. Blend on full speed until pecan butter is smooth, stopping to scrape down the sides with a spatula. This can take 5-15 minutes depending on the machine that you are using.
  4. Store pecan butter in an airtight container at room temperature or in the fridge.

Notes:

  1. Honey is a great substitute for maple syrup in this recipe if that is all you have on hand (and if you can eat it!).
  2. If you are in a time crunch, you can omit toasting the pecans (step 1). This step adds amazing flavour though, so I wouldn’t skip it unless you had to.
  3. While blending, you may need to stop if pecan butter is starting to get too hot as this causes oil separation. Stop and allow to cool before continuing.
